Instruments and Subjects:
Private lessons are offered in Piano, Theory and Musicianship. Small group classes are offered in Theory, Musicianship and Piano Readiness (an aural musicianship program for 4 to 6 year olds preparing them for piano lessons).
The principal style taught is classical, and Piano for Leisure (more contemporary) is also available. Exams are available as required (see Exams page for further information).
Lessons are conducted in my studio in Shailer Park. Online piano lessons are available via Skype/Google Hangout.
The studio caters for students of all ages and stages. Piano Readiness classes (aural musicianship) for children aged four to six years provide youngsters with a thorough grounding in basic musical concepts and introduction to the piano.
Ensemble opportunities are an important aspect of developing musicianship, thus students are encouraged to participate in piano duets and piano trios. The studio houses a small lending library of solo, duet and trio repertoire, which students are welcome to borrow.
Regular performance opportunities are provided, including a soirée each term and an annual concert.
Lessons are conducted on an upright piano for younger students and on a grand piano for advanced students and any student preparing for a performance or exam on a grand piano.
Research has confirmed that parental involvement is of high importance in student success. Parents are encouraged to sit in on lessons, especially for younger students, and to take careful note of how they may assist the student at home. Students generally make far better progress when parents actiely support the learning process and assist students with their practice at home.
Self-serve tea and coffee making facilities are provided for parents. Siblings may remain in the studio during a lesson if necessary, provided they are well-behaved and do not distract the student’s lesson. Off-street parking is provided.
This studio provides each student with their own Music Lessons Webpage. Students and parents can quickly and easily access a calendar with lesson dates, soirées, exams etc, see lesson notes, log practice times, check borrowed books and their repertoire record, and access files and resources. Parents can log in separately to see lesson history and their account status.
